Hello there! This is where I store all of my doujinshi (and any related scans). By extension, this is also where I host all of my scanlations.
I've been collecting doujinshi since I was a pre-teen. It's easily my favorite thing to collect because I love fanfiction and I love physical media -- doujinshi is the perfect marriage of both! When I was much younger, I used to really look up to scanlators; I didn't have my first run-in with Japanese learning tools until around 2010 or 2011, so having the opportunity to read doujinshi in English and immerse myself in stories I otherwise never would have had access to was really magical. That sense of safety and fantasy exploration got me through a lot, and I always wanted to be able to scanlate on my own. Now I'm at a place in life where I can do that! However, I'm now also old enough to have seen old scanlation groups' entire portfolios wiped from the internet due to the hosting services they used when they were still active. Some of these scans are now so difficult to find that they are essentially lost media (including some old English/Italian scanlations of doujinshi I physically own). One of my biggest motivations in creating this website was my desire to archive fan-created media for things I really care about. I truly hope that any translation work I host on this site stands the test of time. (Lord willing, and excluding breaks due to offline obligations) I'm not going anywhere!
Since scanlating takes a lot of time (and since I have a lot of books in my collection), this page mostly works as a showcase of what I own rather than a proper scanlation repository, but I am slowly working through all of the books I own to scan, clean, translate, and typeset, one volume at a time. I don't have anyone else working with me, so please be patient with me. If you want to see a certain book prioritized over others, feel free to send me an email at j@yurievinstitute.org and I'll see what I can do! Barring requests, I don't have a specifically ordered queue for translations. Please note that I do not under any circumstances de-bind or otherwise destroy doujinshi, so my scans are not perfect. If I am able to access an artist's original raws through personal contact, I will use those (if granted permission), but this is usually not feasible. Almost all of the media I regularly engage with (and therefore collect doujinshi of) is not recent, which means the original artists are sometimes impossible to contact. I also usually don't use raws from Pixiv without permission because it leaves a bad taste in my mouth -- the last thing I want is to be rude or unkind to an artist or their work, especially for something I respect enough to care about translating!
Be aware: I'm really obsessed with Beyblade X right now, and I also won't have access to my physical book collection outside of new purchases for the next few months. This means that Beyblade scanlation work takes priority over everything else until I have all my books available; I don't have raw scans of most of my collection, so even if asked, I won't be able to do anything right away. This also means that any entries in this section that are missing summaries or other data will not be corrected until I can look through the books enough to summarize them. I appreciate your patience and understanding! (Of course, if asked to prioritize a book I don't have access to, I will scan it as soon as possible.)
Please remember to support the artists and authors that make doujinshi possible! If a circle you like is still active, please try to buy directly from them in order to support them. If you need any guidance on how to do this, please email me! I typically do not translate or archive comics or prose from active circles unless the work is available for purchase. If something shorter (or physically unpublished) really captivates me, I generally will have a very high degree of interest in translating it; in these cases, I do everything I can to get direct permission from the author/artist to translate their work. Since this section of my site is specific to doujinshi in my collection, all other translations will be hosted in the "Translations" subsection instead.
That's all for me -- happy browsing! Please report all errors/direct any questions you might have for me through the normal channels.
